Madrid in Game launches the second phase of the municipal eSports leagues

With over 40 years of experience in organizing municipal sports leagues, the Madrid City Council, through its Madrid in Game initiative, launched the Esports Series Madrid in 2023, an innovative competition aimed at positioning the city as a key hub in the world of eSports.

In 2024, Madrid in Game kicks off the second phase of the municipal eSports leagues, the Esports Series Madrid. This competition, which is free and open to all, brings together tournaments from some of today’s most popular video games, including Valorant, Fortnite, League of Legends, and Clash Royale. It also hosts the Junior Esports championship, aimed at high school students in Madrid, with competitions in League of Legends and Rocket League.

One of the major highlights of this second phase, starting on September 12 with the first open Clash Royale qualifier, is the introduction of a new league focused on competitive Pokémon, a globally recognized game. Madrid's top trainers will compete to claim the title of the city’s best.

These leagues are designed to promote the professionalization of amateur players and foster a healthy and safe competitive community. Since its inception, over 15,000 participants have taken part, establishing the municipal leagues as a key meeting point for eSports enthusiasts, both in Madrid and across the country.
